Table of Contents
The classic harem anime
These are the anime that come to the mind of every fan when someone mentions the harem genre. These harem anime have been around for some time and are loved and adored by many.
They don’t necessarily have good storylines but they are the popular ones in every way! So let’s get to the list without any ado.
1. Highschool DxD:
Well, the show is not unknown to anyone of course if you are an anime watcher for years. But still if you are new this genre may be this one could be new for you (but I highly doubt it). It’s an absolute classic and it is one of the shows that has marketed itself so well in this harem genre that you can never forget it once you start watching it.
The story is about a high school boy, Issei Hyoudou, also our main protagonist plus he is a perv. Sadly he never dated a girl in his life but once he got a chance for it he just jumped on it and got stabbed to death. Yes you read that right. I know it’s a lot to take in but don’t worry he was not sent to any isekai world.
When he was to go to his deathbed, he was saved by the hottest waifu known in the anime community, Rias Gremory, in a very interesting way that I can’t mention. He soon becomes the loyal pawn of Rias and for rest you need to watch the show.
2. Tenchi Muyo
Tenchi Muyo is one of most underrated harem shows and the oldest gem on our list. And the best part of this anime is that it actually ends creating harem for our main protagonists. Not like others where the hero goes for one girl in the end to live the rest of his life. Leaving his harem behind.
The story of Tenchi Muyo starts with total chaos, where a spaceship crashes into a shrine belonging to our main protagonist, Tenchi Masaki’s grandfather.
Well, our hero is just a normal high school going boy, who lives peacefully. But after the incidents his peaceful life changed into an adventurous journey.
Well, it turns out that the spaceship belongs to a space pirate named Ryouko. Her crashing of the spaceship caused other six really gorgeous looking women to get into Tenchi’s house.
3. Haganai:
Haganai full title of the show, Haganai: I don’t have many friends, suggests the plot of the anime in short. The show starts with our lonely main protagonist, Kodaka Hasegawa, who has transferred to another high school and his only goal is make new friends but didn’t succeed because of his outstanding appearance.
Because of his blonde hair and intense looks people think he is delinquent and tries to avoid him. So, basically he didn’t get any new friends in his new school as well.
But soon his life takes a drastic change, when meets a girl named, Yozora Mikazuki, who also turns out to be a loner as she was talking to her imaginary friend in an empty classroom.
They soon became friends and started a club for people who find it difficult to make friends. And as the club grows with beautiful female characters, Kodaka harem grows as well.
4. Date A Live:
Date A Live is retably hilarious show for sure. The show is full of unnatural things and beings and it is a mix of fantasy and reality that gives you a perfect blend of characters with a humorous storyline. The story starts with our cute little main protagonist, Itsuka Shido, who encounters a spatial quake, when he was in high school.
He soon discovers the root cause of this spatial quake is a spirit girl named Tohka on the place where the spatial quake started. And there’s only one way to stop her to date and plus he has to kiss her. Yes you read that right.
So, now our hero is on a mission to make Touka fall in love with him, so that he can stop the atrocities happening. But as the show gets more hyped up by adding cute girl characters it ultimately creates a harem of our cute little saviour, Itsuka. For rest you need to watch the show!
5. To Love Ru:
To Love Ru is one of the most renowned harem ecchi shows. The series is popular for its comic timings and cute girl characters all falling for the same guy in the show. Just like a typical harem anime.
The anime starts with Yuuki Rito, our main protagonist of the show, who wanted to confess his feelings to his crush, Sairenji Haruna. But unfortunately he couldn’t because of his shy personality.
After getting disappointed, he takes a bath but to his surprise he sees a girl who appears in front of him, when he was in the bathtub.
The girl’s name is Lala and she is not from this planet. Yes, she is an alien and also the candidate to queen of her planet. But she decided to be queen or marry any guy whom her father selected. So, to stay on earth she decides to marry Rito.
6. Monster Musume:
Monster Musume is one of popular adult harem and by saying adult, I mean this show not meant for fans that are under 18. The show has some adult stuff here and there but still it’s a really good show to binge watch.
The show starts with Kimihito Kurusu, who is yet another high school going boy but his life changes when gets involved in an unusual experiment called the ” Interspecies Cultural Exchange” program.
Well, this is not some ordinary skills enhancement workshop because in this program you have to stay with species which are not totally human nor animal but it’s kind of a mixed breed of both. Yeah I know it sounds unrealistic but it’s true. Our mc is also kept with one species who is half female and half snake and trust she looks really good.
And just like other harem shows she is obsessed with our mc and as the show goes many such kinds of creatures come in to create the whole harem of Kurusu.
7. The Familiar Of Zero:
The story of The Familiar Of Zero starts with just like any isekai show, where our mc is transferred to another world. Well, but in this show, our cute MC, Saito Hiraga, was summoned to another magical world just by an accident. Yes, you read that right.
When Louise Françoise Le Blanc de La Vallière, our heroine, also called be Louise, casts her summoning magic she happens to summon a human rather than any magical creature. She eventually was forced to be his slave and do everything. But as the show progresses they both fall in love.
Well, in the show it seems like both of them are in a relationship but there are many girls who fall for Saito that eventually creates his full fledged harem including his love interest.
8. Yamada Kun and the 7 Witches:
Yamada Kun and the 7 Witches is one of the best harem with an intense good storyline. The show has everything, a balance of both comedy and wonderful animation. And one of the most important details is that our MC, who kinda looks delinquent but in reality he is not he is just misunderstood, has a harem full of beautiful girls including a boy. Don’t worry it’s not BL.
The show revolves around Ryu Yamada, who discovers that he can switch bodies with a girl named, Urara Shiraishi, just by kissing her.
After accidently kissing each other. They soon started exploring this power and realised there are seven witches in this school, whose abilities can be determined by kissing them. So, Ryu and Urara start a journey to find these seven witches to solve the mystery.
Harem anime with good story/plot:
While the classic harem anime list above did not necessarily have a good storyline, the ones we will be suggesting now are plot driven and has some good character development in it!!
1. Monogatari Series:
Here comes one of the classic shows not exactly popular for the harem genre but being praised for astonishing storyline and supernatural themes. And if you are someone who is looking for a show with the best plot and hinch of harem then this goes right up to your alley.
If we discuss the show in short, it’s about vampires and supernatural beings where our MC, Koyomi Araragi, a third year high school boy finds himself helping a girl who is not so good for him.
Well the girl is involved in every sort of supernatural stuff that you can think that eventually makes anyone feel anxious. And now it’s up to our MC how he solves his problem.
2. Saekano:
The story of Saekano revolves around our main protagonists, Tomoya Aki, who loves to watch anime and read light novels. Basically he is a hard core otaku, that makes him one of the most marketable MCs on our list.
Furthermore, Aki’s dream is to create a date simulation game but he can’t do it alone. So, he takes the help of his childhood friend, Eriri Spencer Sawamura to illustrate the characters for the game and also recruits Utaha Kasumigaoka, to write the script of the visual novel.
Soon he meets a girl of his dreams, Megumi Katou, who later turns out to be his games model as a heroine. And that’s how our MC creates a harem full of girls, and fulfils his dreams to launch a game.
3. The World God Only Knows:
The harem show is an absolute masterpiece. It has top notch animation, characters and music and on top of that some of the best romantic scenes as well. The show revolves around one of the smartest MC on our list, Keima Katsuragi, who has no interest in real girls but his skills get maximum when he is in dating simulation games.
He is called “The God of Conquest”. One he gets sudden mail that he accepts as a challenge from there his struggle starts. Now, as per agreement sent on mail he has to find lost soul with the help of demon Elsie de Lute.
And to do that he has to make place in their heart a demon from hell inside in the heart of a lost soul. I know the story sounds complicated but it’s too much fun if you watch it and it’s emotional at the same time.
4. My Next Life As A Villainess: All Roads Lead To Doom:
Up next, we’ve got a reverse harem show on our hands.
The show basically revolves around, young girl and beautiful girl named Catarina Claes who unfortunately dies and gets reincarnated as the villain in her favorite dating sim game, Fortune Lover. And now she is destined to be killed by characters of the game in the end as per the plot of the game.
To protect herself from being killed she tries hard to save herself and during the process she meets many characters from the game. And in the consequences of changing her fate she creates many complications in the relationship with other characters.
5. Danmachi:
This is my personal favourite harem show and it’s just not your ordinary anime with alot of girls fawning over MC but in this show there is actual plot that can really hook you to binge watch it.
Well the story of Danmachi is not that simple as it contains a dark side to it. It is really hard to live in a world where God and humans coexist in a dungeon full of wild beasts. Our sweet and innocent hero, Bell Cranel, is trying to level up his abilities as much as possible because he is the protector of his group.
Bell, alongside his goddess, Hestia and team goes on a journey where they face many challenges and struggle to live in the dungeon.
6. Hayate The Combat Butler:
If you are looking for something really funny with a good storyline and of course harem with beautiful girls then Hayate The Combat Butler will never disappoint you.
This story is about a unfortunate boy, Hayate Ayasaki, who is abandoned by his parents and due to heavy debt incurred on him by his parents he decides to kidnap a girl named Nagi Sanzenin.
But it turns out that he was actually saving her from real kidnappers. He soon becomes the bodyguard of Nagi as she belongs to a richest family.
And during his work he protects her from many dangerous situations and also himself by rejecting girls fawning from him.
7. Quintessential Quintuplets:
This show doesn’t need any introduction because it’s so renowned and fans all over the world love this anime for its perfect waifus but still if you are new to this then do check this one.
The show is about a scholar Futaro Uesugi, who is best in his overall academic curriculum but when it comes to his family life, his family is in huge debt that needs to be paid as soon as possible.
He soon gets a job to pay off his debt by tutoring five identical quintuplets, Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano, to teach them so that they graduate from high school peacefully without any trouble.
But the problem is they don’t wanna study at all. And it’s Uesugi’s job to make them study so that he can be free from his debt.
8. Fruit Of Grisaia:
Fruit of Grisaia is one of the darkest anime ever watched. And I won’t suggest this anime to anyone who can’t tolerate such stuff. Especially fans under 18 should stay away from this show. But if you are into some dark theme shows and okay with mature content then obviously it’s one of the best harem shows on our list.
Well, the story of Fruit Of Grisaia, revolves around Yuuji Kazami, a transfer student who is newly admitted into Mihama Academy. His only wish is to live a normal life like a regular high school boy but this Academy has something that cannot be termed ordinary.
The school has only five students and that is all girls. He is the first boy in the academy. And yes, don’t get conceived by the looks of this girl because they have some traumatising past that will be disclosed as the show progresses.
Action/Adventure Harem anime:
Among the sub-genres within harem anime, there are particularly a lot which have the action and fantasy elements engraved in them along with the girls falling for the main hero trope.
HighSchool DxD & Date A Live are at the forefront of this sub-genre. So if that is something which interests you, then here are some of the best titles that we recommend:
1. Mahou Sensei Negima:
This is one of the classic harem shows, made up of wizards and set in a fantasy world. Ironically, Our MC Negi Springfield, who is just 10 years old, has his own harem in the show. I know you must be shocked but it’s true no he is not like Ash Ketchum or wants to be a Pokemon trainer but he wants to be a Master Wizard.
Funniest thing is to be master wizard he has done all his training and completed exams but just final step is left and that is most ridiculous one that is to be English teacher in girls boarding school.
Soon, Negi gets into a school full of girls and embarrasses one of girl’s names, Asuna and on the top of that he replaced her favourite teacher to be there. Sigh bad day for that girl.
But still as the show progresses Asuna and Negi become partners to fight bad wizards and that is how the story goes on.
2. Tsugumomo:
Tsugumomo is pure fantasy harem anime, where you discover objects getting alive and moving around you. Yes, read that right!
Well, Tsugumomo is one of concept in Japanese folklore, where objects or non alive things that have stayed very long with their owner and are mature in traits transforms into Tsugumomo and the things that are immature in trait and born to fulfil harmful wishes of their owner are amasogi.
And in this world lives a cute and obedient MC, Kazuya Kagami, who is so attached to his mother that after death he carries her obi basically a belt, everytime around him, wherever he goes.
One day, he was attacked by an evil spirit and suddenly his mother Obi came to his rescue by transforming into a beautiful girl named Kiriha. Now, Kazuya is on a journey to find out the reality of this world with the help of Kiriha.
3. Sekirei:
Sekirei easily wins in this harem game as it has everything to be the best anime in this genre. The story starts with Minato Sahashi, our hero and his Sekirei, a fighting girl who looks like a normal girl but has extraordinary powers that can be used when they form a pact with their partner.
The Minato’s Sekirei are in a big battle called the Sekirei Plan’s second stage. The city, where they live is Shintou Teito, is closed, so no one can run away from the battle or nobody can leave the city till the battle.
Minato and his Sekirei should be ready for new fights because the rules have changed. But it seems some of the Sekirei are so much in love with their partners that they don’t want to fight in the first place, even if it means losing the game.
The show is packed with moral dilemmas and it will be nice to watch if you’re a fan of action harem shows.
4. Saber Marionette J:
Saber Marionette J has a serious tone to it even though it’s a harem show. The anime is set in the future where Earth is buzzling with population and there’s no longer space to live.
Few people with the help of a spaceship, Mesopotamia, tried to travel to another planet. But unfortunately, it’s a blast in mid air and only six men arrive safely on a planet called “Terra II”.
To grow their society, they started building clones and robots called Marionettes to play with their kids, but as expected from robots they don’t have any emotions.
One day, a boy named Otaru discovers three Marionettes that can actually feel emotions just like humans and from there they start protecting their new world from another world intervention.
5. Strike The Blood:
If you are into Vampires and have a really good sword fight then the show is just for you. The story starts with an ordinary high school boy, Kojou Akatsuki, who turns into the strongest Vampires due to a strange encounter. Now everyone in his city is excited to see him.
His powers are really extraordinary but it can be dangerous as well. So, to keep a check on him, an organisation named, Lion King Organization sends Yukina Himeragi, a trainee sword fighter to stay close to him to report any changes and stop him from causing any atrocities in the city.
But it seems like they both come together to drive any evil force causing harm to the city.
6. Trinity Seven:
Trinity Seven is full fantasy, a world where everything turns into aches, when the sun turns into red. Our hero, Arata Kasuga survived the commotion and his world was saved by one of his friends, Hijiri, who recreates the world by using her magic book.
Soon, after that world again starts to fall apart and here enters an evil character named Lilith Asami, who warns Kasuga to hand over that magic book or die. To save himself from Lilith, he took admission in one of prestigious magic school names, Royal Biblia Academy.
There he meets Six brilliant magic users, and forms a group that is called to be Trinity Seven, to save the world from falling apart and also saving his friend Hijiri from evil forces.
7. Testament of New Sister Devil:
This show has an extreme level of ecchi content in the show but still if you are looking for a good plot with one of the popular girls in the show then this one is just for you.The show is about a hero, Basara Toujou who is actually a hero in the real world as well. Yes you read that right!
One day, he encounters a girl, Mio with red hairs in the bathroom just by accident, who turns out to be his stepsister, and one more step sister named Maria, with silver hairs.
Soon, a secret reveals that Mio is a daughter of the demon lord and Maria is her servant. They’re living in secret just to save Mio from any danger from other demons. And now, Basara is ready to save his new family from enemies because why not.
8. How Not To Summon A Demon Lord:
This unique story, where demon lord Diablo is assumed to be god by people around him.Likewise, he soon meets a high priest named, Lumachina, who also mistaken him for good and took his help to clean up the church.
She also requested her God Diablo, who is actually a demon lord, to save her from any danger, when they go on journey to find the head paladin, Batutta.
Now, Diablo, along with his new friends Rem, Shera, Lumachina, Horn, and Rose, went out for a journey. And the question arises is whether Diablo will be able to fulfil Lumachina’s wish? Or can the real Demon Lord really act like a god in front of people? And for how long? To know that you have to watch the show!
Best Romance Harem Anime:
Now before we get to the actual list, this is where we’ll be taking a look at the literal meaning of harem -which is characterized by two or more girls romancing the same guy. For this particular genre, that is the harem romance genre, we’ll be picking out our series keeping this definition in mind.
Certainly, not all potential harems in the below list end being successful both ways, but still, they do qualify as one, and there is a lot of romance and drama involved in them. So a perfect pick, if you ask me!
Note: Most anime in the Harem genre have romance in them. So do check out the anime from all the sub-genres above (except maybe action), and the romance lover in you won’t be disappointed!
1. Nisekoi:
This one of most popular and funniest harem shows on our list but then why are we mentioning this title here? Well even though the show is dominated by funny moments between characters still it has some of the most romantic moments in the show and that much appreciated and loved overall.
The story surrounds our MC life, Raku Ichijou, who is some heir of his yakuza family. But I tried to be involved in such work. When he was a kid he promised a girl something, and she took the key with her leaving his pendant behind.
Now back to present he is still in search of the girl that he has promised but also he has a crush on the cutest girl in the show, Kosaki Onodera but before his love story could have started something happened that changed his life forever. To know that you have to watch the show!
2. Love Hina!
Love Hina is a typical harem show with five beautiful girls but with an interesting love angle to it. The show is a masterpiece in its genre and often seen to be forgotten by many.
The story revolves around Keitaro Urashima, who has promised a girl in his childhood that they will meet at University when they will be young. Sadly, that promise remained promise forever because Keitaro was not able to crack the entrance exam for getting admission in University.
The only option he was left with was to visit his grandma dormitory that was changed into a girls hostel and he soon changed to manager of his girls hostel that has five girls in total with only one boy.
3. Amagami SS:
A show that will definitely give you hope to give a second chance to your love life. Yes, you read that right.

But soon his life changes and he gets full fledged of harem of girl that are really in love with him that includes, Haruka Morishima, who is energetic and one of most popular girl, Kaoru Tanamachi, who is basically his childhood friend, who loves him; Sae Nakata, a introvert new student; Ai Nanasaki, a girl, who loves to swim and is present in swimming team who didn’t like him at beginning; Rihoko Sakurai, his childhood friend who loves sweets things; and Tsukasa Ayatsuji, a perfect class representative with a hidden side that are needed to explore.
Now, Junichi is hoping to get the love of life till the next Christmas Eve amongst them.
4. Couple of Cuckoos:
As the name suggests, Couple of Cuckoos is a story based on children that were swapped with their parents on their birth. Yes, you read that right!
The story starts with Nagi and Erika, two completely different people one who is a brilliant student and another who is a popular social media influencer but their life turned upside down when they got the news that they got swapped when they were born.
Now, to make things right their parents are trying to force them to get engaged, which according to them will solve their problem.
But obviously both rejected these absurd proposals. But unlike other parents they are not backing off and will go ahead with their plans and for more you have to watch the show.
5. Rent A Girlfriend:
I really doubt that someone has not heard of this show because nevertheless it’s one of most popular shows on our list. It really created a lot of rumours and debate around the fans, consisting of some of the cutest waifus in the show.
The show begins with our MC, Kazuya getting dumped by his beautiful girlfriend Mami. It was so sudden that he ain’t realised that she was just using him for fun. After getting dumped so badly he rented a cutest girlfriend online name Chizuru, who turns out to be really sweet but even though Kazuya without trusting her gave him bad ratings.
One day, when he was visiting grandma in the hospital he found Chizuru to be there as well and without explanation his grandma thought she was his girlfriend.
As the story goes their relationship grows complicated because Kazuya is still in love with his ex.
6. Rosario + Vampire:
Rosario + Vampire is easily the best harem show and has the best main characters and vampire setting overall. If you are big fans of Vampire plus a badass female Vampire then this show is just for you.
The show starts with Tsukune Aono, who finally gets admission in high school because he was getting one and his parents without even realising admitted him in all devil schools where being human means death. Yes, humans are allowed in Youkai Academy.
On his first day of school he meets Moka Akashiya, the prettiest and cutest girl in school, and decides to be with her to get to know her better. But soon he realises that she is not an ordinary girl but a dangerous vampire who is obsessed with his blood.
Now it’s on Tsukune, whether to be with her in the academy by hiding the fact that he is human or run away to the human world. You will get a chance to see many mysterious devils in girl form and if you are fan of good harem shows then this is just for you.
7. Oresuki:
Oresuki is one of the funniest romance harem shows. Well, imagine a guy who had got two proposals from one of the cutest girls from the show but then when they were about to confess their love, they tell him that they’re in love with your best friend. Shocking right? I bet it is!
That is what happens with our wannabe cool protagonist, Amatsuyu “Jouro” Kisaragi. After this incident he realised that he was at fault for acting all sweet and nice to get attention from girls. And now he is responsible for getting these girls love of their life.
As the show goes there are many characters and of course, a hottest girl, Sumireko “Pansy” Sanshokuin, who is in love with our protagonist. To know more you need to check out this one. Definitely a binge worthy show if you are harem lover.
8. Masamune Kun’s Revenge:
This romance harem show is a bit twisted and I mean it. It’s not just your normal romance show but a revenge story converts into a romance but for that you have to wait for long.
Because our protagonist, Masamune, is really obsessed with taking revenge on this girl, Aki, who is renowned to be a Cruel Princess. But why does he want revenge on one of the prettiest girls in his school?
Well, in his childhood she brutally rejected him and broke his heart just because he was fat. And now after getting well trained he is ready to take revenge from a girl who becomes his heart.
He wants to fall in love with him and when she is totally in control, he eventually rejects her to give the taste of his own medicine. The show is full of ups and downs but a must watch for sure!
Best Comedy Harem Anime:
When I talk about the comedy harem genre, I think I should specify that it is more like brainless comedy and laughter genre. Haganai and Hayate: The Combat Butler are two comedy harems that have a good plot and manage to be witty.
The ones I am listing below will definitely require you to forego logic and just enjoy the anime without thinking too much into it. Laugh, that’s it. Just laugh!
1. Setokai No Ichizon:
Imagine, a guy who’s only dream is to have fun in high school, yes I know it’s pretty normal but the catch is he thinks being student council can literally change his life because girls often find students council cool. And it will be fun but in reality it’s the opposite.
To be in the student council you should be in top, like the score should be A1 and after a lot of work our protagonist Ken gets in the student council.
But the scenario is that girls in student council are not even a bit involved in romantic stuff and have no interest in him and are just working hard for school stuff.
Nevertheless, our protagonist never loses hope and keeps on trying to fulfil his dreams.
2. Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka:
Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka is about a girl named Ayumu who has turned into a zombie because someone has killed him and now he is a zombie finding a way to find his killer. On top of that , because he is a zombie he can’t be dead again because he is already dead.
One day, he meets a girl named Haruna who is beating up a bear with a chainsaw and wearing a magical girls dress. He accidentally absorbs all her abilities.
In return for its powers she asks him to fight a monster named Megalo and that’s how our zombie protagonist journey starts, which is full of ups and downs.
3. Girlfriend, Girlfriend:
The plot of Girlfriend, Girlfriend is really twisted and complex because obviously imagine you have a crush on a girl for a long time, you gather up your courage and confess your love to her. Luckily she accepts it and you promised her to make her happy but then another confesses you too.
Obviously you will reject her and keep your relationship pure and simple but now our main protagonist, Naoya, accepts the feeling of the second girl, Nagisa and suggests his girlfriend, Saki, that we should all try and date together and on top of that she accepts. I know top notch fiction it’s far from reality.
Please try this because it’s risky. If you don’t use logic then this show can really make you laugh and smile because it’s definitely one of the best shows in comedy harem.
4. Heaven’s Lost Property:
A show based on angels. Yes, after seeing so many anime about cute, sexy and hot high school girls now it’s time for some sweet Angel harem. And don’t worry, they are just normal girls with wings so it’s totally normal.
The story starts with Tomoki Sakurai, our (pervert) MC, who always wakes up crying since he was young. He says that he gets an angel and the last thing he remembers is that he is crying when he wakes up.
His childhood friend Sohara Mitsuki is worried for him and asks help from a genuine person, who is studying about the Sky that is still a mystery for many scientists. Eishirou Sugata.
They all from club to find out mystery behind this dreams and sky and one day when Tomoki near the Sky he saw a angel coming out of it and calling him, master. Being clueless he takes her home.
Now, the only thing left is to solve the mystery of the Sky and angel. Will they be able to do that? To know this you have to watch the show!
5. Outbreak Company:
This anime is a dream come true for every otaku in the world. Imagine you have been transported to another fantasy world, where you have been given duty to spread your knowledge on anime, gaming and everything related to otaku culture. How will you feel? Amazing right? And that’s what happens in this show!
Our hero, Shinichi Kanou is a typical shut-in otaku, who had been given a chance to spread the knowledge of otaku culture in that world and on top of that he was authorised by the Japanese government themselves and now we call living the best life.
Furthermore, if you think he is alone in this mission then you are absolutely wrong my friend. He got a half elf maid and Princess Petralka on his side to help him to do his work.
Best Light-hearted, and Wholesome harem anime
Can Harem anime be wholesome and lighthearted? Well, yes they definitely can. Quintessential Quintuplets and Bokuben already qualify as some pretty good wholesome harem anime. Since we already mentioned it, let’s take a look at others which make the cut!
1. The Cafe Terrace & Its Goddesses:
The Cafe Terrace & Its Goddesses is a delightful show and if you are bored of seeing action, adventure and any other genre then this wholesome treat will make your day.
The story starts with a cafe that was well maintained by Hayato’s grandma Sachiko. But unfortunately she is not alive to keep the cafe alive.
Soon Hayato after completing his studies from Tokyo arrives at this cafe just to sell it as he no longer needs this cafe but to his surprise he finds five girls, Ouka, Akane, Riho, Shiragiku, and Ami staying there, who seem to be taking care of the place and seems really close to Sachiko.
Therefore they don’t want to leave the place and are struggling to convince him to think otherwise. Soon enough he gets ready to take on the challenge to bring back the cafe as it was and ask all of them to help him to revive this special place again.
2. Bokuben:
The plot of Bokuben may seem quite similar to Quintessential but there’s a catch in this show: girls are interested to study because they want to but they find it hard to pick through subjects. The story begins with Nariyuki Yuiga, who is not financially stable to get admission in college even though he is genuine in high school and gets top grades in all subjects.
To get in college he needs a scholarship from his highschool and his principal agrees to give him what he desire but only one condition that he will tutor, three smartest students of the school, Rizu Ogata, who’s amazing at maths but interested in studying humanities, Fumino Furuhashi, who’s genuine at literature but desire to study science, and last but not the least, Nariyuki’s own friend Uruka Takemoto, who’s best at sports but not good at anything else.
He agrees to help and now it’s up to him how will make subjects easier for them to study and make them best at what they desire to be.
3. 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Love You:
After seeing Rent a girlfriend, Girlfriend Girlfriend now it’s time to talk about 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Love You. Yes, this time, it’s not one, two, our five girls harem but it’s 100 girls in one show.
I know the title does sound off but don’t worry the show is not that bad in fact it has sweet and heartwarming moments that are worth a watch!
The story starts with Rentarou Aijou, who had confessed his feelings to a girl but he has been rejected for the 100th time.
Getting sad over his rejection he visits a shrine that is known for its power for finding a love. He wishes to get a girlfriend and to his surprise a shrine God appears in front of him granting him a wish to get 100 girlfriends!
At first it seemed to be a joke but suddenly he got two people confessing him to be his girlfriend, Hakari Hanazono and Karane Inda.
Sadly, he can’t reject any girl because if he rejects any girl they will die. So, our kind hearted hero accepts everyone’s feelings and has shown progress. He gets 100s of girls in his family.
4. Tenpuru:
I recently started watching this show and it’s also got a new season this year. So, if you feel sad after completing any of the shows, don’t worry because this is the season for it and you can definitely watch it at your own pace.
The story revolves, Akemitsu Akagami, a high school, who was treated badly because his family reputation was degraded because of the rumours that they chase women. Not following his family tradition he decided to dedicate his life to study but unfortunately he falls in love with a girl and to clear his mind he decided to be a monk.
He visited a shrine but turned out to be a girl dormitory and as he was about to leave the place, girls found that his father had taken huge sums of money from them and never returned and now he has to stay there and serve them until his debt is clear.
5. Oreshura:
Well, the plot of Oreshura is quite similar to Tenpuru, like in this show as well. Our hero, Eita Kido wanted to focus on studies as well and had no interest in getting involved in love and romance things because his parents had just divorced and he was living with his aunt.
The only thing in his life left is to get admission in medical College but before it could happen he gots proposal from Masuzu Natsukawa and she told him that she is in love with him. They get together but here is a twist that Eita’s childhood friend Chiwa Harusaki doesn’t trust Masuzu and doesn’t want Eita to date her.
Eventually they break up and now Masuzu is trying to bring Chiwa and Eita together but this time Eita is in love with Masuzu. So, he confesses his love to her and finally now they are together. Happy Ending!
